The nasolabial fold is the deep crease running from either side of the nose down towards the corners of the mouth. This crease becomes more noticeable as part of the natural ageing process. Fat is lost from the cheeks, reducing skin volume and making this fold appear deeper. Repeated smiling or having a “big smile” may result in permanent, deep creases in this area.

Treatment Information
The nasolabial folds are also known as ‘smile lines’ or ‘laugh lines’. These folds of skin running from each corner of the nose to the mouth support the buccal fat pad. If a nasolabial fold grows too deep over time, the face can begin to look tired. Deepening of the nasolabial folds happens when subcutaneous fat tissue begins to sag down from the cheekbone. This is essentially additional volume in the cheek beginning to hang down over the nasolabial folds, which cause the fold itself to deepen.
This treatment involves the injection of dermal filler to plump up and fill the lines or folds. This treatment is very effective for static lines and folds around the lips, cheeks, nose to mouth folds, marionette lines and mouth corner lifting.
